BORROWING BOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS
Borrowing Policies:Library materials may be borrowed free of charge. Loan period and renewals depend on the type of materials borrowed. Check the receipt for the due date after you check out.
Returning Materials:During library hours, items must be returned at the circulation desk or in the children's room. When the library is closed materials may be returned in the book/audio-visual drops at the entrance. Renewing Materials:Most books, audio-books and CDs may be renewed twice unless they have been reserved for another patron. Renewals may be done in person at the library or by phone. When renewing by telephone, please be prepared to give your name, your card number and the barcode number of each book or CD. DVD's are not available for renewal. Extended Loans:Most materials may be borrowed for extended periods of up to six weeks. The Library reserves the right to exclude certain materials from extended loan, e.g. new books, assignment materials and certain media types. Reserves, Interlibrary Loans and Requests:If you can't find the book you want, simply ask at the reference desk. There is always a certified librarian on duty to help you. The librarian will help you search for information or particular titles. Reserves:If the title you want is out, we can put you on a waiting list. Reserves can be made either at the library, by phone or online through the I Bistro catalog. Interlibrary Loans:If we do not own the title and it is not available through any other library in our network, we can arrange to borrow it for you from another library. Items borrowed on interlibrary loan may not be renewed. Interlibrary loans must be made in person at the library. If you want to do some research on your own to find out if the item is available, try these resources.
We accept patron requests for purchase of materials that are not available on interlibrary loan. Requests are filled or denied based on the library's collection development policy. Reciprocal Borrowing:If you need that special book in a hurry, why not pick it up yourself. Your Red Bank Public Library card is valid at other LMXAC Libraries located throughout Monmouth and Middlesex counties. Materials borrowed from other LMXAC libraries may be returned at Red Bank. Please call the member library you intend to borrow from to verify that the item is on the shelf and that you have borrowing privileges at that library. Don't forget your library card.
